THE KINGDOM

… a great veiled empire defended and defined by its endless, impenetrable Wall. We don’t know what life is like in there; we only know that they built their Wall — a big, solid wall that might go on forever — in order to keep themselves in, and to keep anything else out.

That includes the people they banish to the world outside, every so often. People like….

SALVAGER KAIN

…one of the many hopeless figures rejected by the Kingdom, left to manage on their own in the world outside the wall.

Like every other outcast, Kain’s mind is wiped of all memories of his former life from within the Kingdom. Unlike those others, Kain arrived in the outside world with a tattoo on his forehead. He doesn’t know its meaning, but he’s been advised to keep it covered up for his own protection.

Also unlike those other rejects, Kain has chosen his name based on a word he has seen spelled out with sticks, in the forest.

Some outcasts struggle to get back in, some struggle to survive being cast out, but all have to cope with the same induced condition: wiped memories of one’s life inside, and an overwhelming yearning to return.

THE WORLD OUTSIDE

Surrounding the seemingly endless Wall of The Empire stretches a vast Forest filled with many dangers: vicious monsters, other desperate rejects and the perpetual challenge of finding the basics like food and shelter. Kain’s journey — up until recently — has occurred in the narrow, relatively-safe corridor between the deep, deadly Forest and the unrelenting Wall.
