Salvager Kain 511A

It should be clear to folks that a good chunk of the start of SK5 is dedicated to establishing a new premise for Kain’s adventures in the tunnels. At the pace you’re seeing it, it must seem like it’s taking forever to set up, and you’re probably right; even read as whole pages, it’s a lot of time to spend introducing new characters and agendas into the story. But what can I say? This is the way the story starts.

The last few days, I’ve been itching to get to “more story, faster”. This impulse kicks in depending on what comics I’m reading (or re-reading, my particular habit) at the time. Thankfully, I’ve put that itch to good use by cranking out a mini-minicomic as a freebie giveaway for my upcoming appearance at the 2009 Heroes Con in Charlotte, North Carolina from June 19-21 (like how I snuck that plug in there?). The short tale is called “The Spittish Chronicles, Volume 11: The Greater Affront” and it’s my first story-within-a-story: a little digest account of an average day in the life of Spit the Vicious, as told by our very own slacker sidekick Dwoight. If you see me at the con, you’ll most likely get a copy for free, as I reverse-shoplift and try to stick one in your pocket, my signature promotional tactic. However, if you didn’t have plans to visit Charlotte, NC at the end of this week, fear not; the tale will work its way onto this site soon enough — and, like the freebie handout itself, you’ll get the full tale in one handful.

Alright, back to the tunnels. Happy Sunday, folks; I hope to see some of you at the convention!
